Foot and Ankle Injuries in Pre-Professional Dancers: Incidence, Characteristics, and Variability between Ballet, Chinese Dance and Contemporary Dance

Objective(s) and significance of the research

The aim of this research is to provide greater insight into injuries sustained by pre-professional dancers in Hong Kong. We want to see whether the incidence of injuries is similar to that in other countries and which part of the foot and ankle dancers commonly get injured. We also want to find out whether dancers who practice different types of dance get injured in different ways. We hope to help dancers, instructors, and medical professionals better serve the needs of this demographic, to prevent injury and promote an injury-free career.
